It’s understandable given his good looks and his acting skills. The 24-year old Sahin’s film, Utsch, was also positively welcomed by critics–even by award-winning filmmaker and jury director Steven Spielberg.
The Deutscher Jugendfilmpreis nominated film tells about three friends who flew to Istanbul and found themselves lost in the crowd.
Sahin, who is currently doing another film (Encounter) which is set to be released end of 2013, granted an online interview where he shared some of his ‘secrets’.
How old were you when you started your career?
I was 15 years old when I grabbed the chance to act in the short film “security measures” of Kai Sitter. Other films followed.
What one compliment you get frequently?
I do not get and like compliments. Because criticism is the most important compliment for an artist. Only through criticism one will experience and understand a lot.
Aside from acting, what other career would you want?
I would still aspire a career in acting again.
Are you the type who is always getting attention?
I am in the beginning of my dream being an experienced actor (sic). I cannot really complain about the things I have learned and gained up to now.
If you would become someone for a day–who would you want to be?
I think it would be Salvador Dali. He had the ability to show the subconscious. He enchants human beings into the realm of dreams and sensuality. He also conveys a unique feeling of freedom.
Is there a particular role that you would want to do?
I would like to portray the difficult role of a cancer patient or a disabled person. I read that almost a quarter of disabled people are regularly suffering discrimination. This is very sad. It is incredibly important that we hold a mirror up to ourselves from time to time to see that they often live in bad conditions.
What is something that women would be surprised to know about you?
Meteors, everyone remembers gladly the former times, when one was sufficient romantic, in order to believe that one would have a free wish while seeing a shooting star (sic). This kind of Romanticism can be found deeply within my heart.
When is a woman beautiful?
I love the inner beauty of the woman. She has to have a pure heart. | Arne Gershwin Gogo
